About Course

Nagoya University—internationally recognized for its Global 30 (G30) Automotive Engineering program—provides a dedicated framework for Individual Research Projects & Evaluation. As a key component of the Nagoya University Summer Intensive Program (NUSIP) and the 4th-year graduation track, this module is where students transition from passive learners to active innovators. Guided by faculty who are often dual-appointed in industry research labs (such as Toyota Central R&D), students undertake a specific investigation into the future of CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electric) technologies. While the university provides elite academic supervision, access to the National Innovation Complex, and official academic credits, Edulux Summer manages the high-end logistics and travel services required for your stay in Nagoya.

What You’ll Learn (at Nagoya University)

  • Problem Definition & Scoping: Learning to identify a specific, high-impact niche within automotive engineering—such as optimizing battery thermal management or refining LiDAR point-cloud clustering.

  • Experimental Design & Methodology: Investigating the rigorous scientific methods required to test automotive hypotheses, whether through MATLAB/Simulink simulations or physical laboratory testing.

  • Advanced Evaluation Metrics: Mastering the quantitative tools used to judge automotive performance, including Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), fuel efficiency gains, and algorithm latency.

  • Literature & IP Landscape: Analyzing current global research and patents to ensure your project contributes new value to the field.

  • Technical Communication: Developing the skills to present complex engineering data to both academic committees and industry stakeholders from companies like Denso and Toyota.

  • Peer Review & Feedback Loops: Engaging in a rigorous evaluation process where projects are critiqued by faculty and fellow researchers to simulate a professional R&D environment.
