About Course

The University of Geneva (UNIGE), in partnership with the Geneva Tsinghua Initiative, hosts the SDG Summer School on Planetary Health. This is not a traditional lecture-based course; it is an intensive, challenge-based program where students work in multidisciplinary teams to develop open-source solutions for the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Set against the backdrop of the Campus Biotech and the United Nations Office at Geneva, the program focuses on the urgent intersection of environmental degradation and human well-being. While the university provides elite academic mentorship, fabrication lab access, and official ECTS credits, Edulux Summer manages the high-end logistics and travel services required for your stay in the world’s humanitarian capital.

What You’ll Learn (at University of Geneva)

  • The Planetary Health Framework: Investigating the profound links between climate change, biodiversity loss, and the emergence of new human health threats.

  • Challenge-Based Innovation: Working in teams to identify a specific SDG-related health problem and developing a functional, scalable solution or prototype.

  • Open-Source Problem Solving: Utilizing open data and collaborative tools to create impactful interventions that can be shared and adapted globally.

  • Systems Thinking for the SDGs: Analyzing how climate policy, urban planning, and food systems must be integrated to protect global health.

  • Prototyping & Design Thinking: Gaining hands-on experience in the SDG Solution Space, using rapid prototyping to move from an idea to a tangible impact project.
