About Course

EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), in a prestigious collaboration with ETH Zürich, presents the intensive summer school: “Simulating Many-Body Quantum Physics – A Classical and Quantum Perspective (Sim-MBQP).” This program tackles the “exponential wall” of quantum mechanics. As the number of interacting particles increases, traditional computing fails; this course explores the cutting-edge classical and quantum algorithms designed to break through. While the universities provide elite academic instruction, high-performance computing workshops, and official academic credits, Edulux Summer manages the high-end logistics and travel services required for your stay on the shores of Lake Geneva.

What You’ll Learn (at EPFL)

  • The Many-Body Challenge: Investigating why simulating interacting quantum particles is computationally “hard” and the theoretical frameworks required to describe collective phenomena.

  • Classical Simulation Algorithms: Mastering state-of-the-art numerical methods such as Matrix Product States (MPS), Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG), and Quantum Monte Carlo.

  • Quantum Computational Perspectives: Exploring how NISQ-era (Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum) devices and future fault-tolerant computers can simulate quantum chemistry and materials.

  • Tensor Networks: Learning the mathematical language of entanglement to efficiently represent high-dimensional quantum states in lower-dimensional classical structures.

  • Practical Coding Workshops: Gaining hands-on experience implementing simulation libraries to model phase transitions, magnetism, and topological order.

  • Hybrid Classical-Quantum Algorithms: Analyzing Variational Quantum Eigensolvers (VQE) and other methods that utilize the best of both computing worlds.

Our Travel & Experience Services

We manage the journey and the Swiss “Art de Vivre” so you can focus on the physics of the future:

  • Cultural & Exploration Tours: Curated excursions including a private guided tour of the CERN Globe of Science and Innovation in nearby Geneva, a sunset cruise on Lake Geneva (Lac Léman), and a weekend trip to Zermatt to view the iconic Matterhorn and explore the high-altitude research stations.

  • Ticketing & Flights: Full management of your round-trip airfare and international travel itinerary into Geneva Airport (GVA) or Zurich (ZRH) with premium Swiss Rail transfers to Lausanne.

  • Guaranteed Housing: Vetted boutique living arrangements or high-end lakefront residences in Ouchy or near the EPFL Innovation Park, offering inspiring views and seamless campus access.

  • Visa & Insurance: Professional guidance on Swiss/Schengen entry requirements and comprehensive travel health coverage for the duration of the program.

  • Local Transfers: Seamless arrival pickup via private car and a Swiss Travel Pass for unlimited use of Lausanne’s efficient metro and regional train network.
