About Course

Nagoya University—at the heart of Japan’s automotive “Silicon Valley”—presents a cutting-edge technical intensive: “Wireless Technologies in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).” Scheduled from June 10 to July 17, 2026, this course is a cornerstone of the Nagoya University Summer Intensive Program (NUSIP). As we move toward fully autonomous driving, the car is no longer an isolated machine; it is a node in a global network. This program provides a deep dive into the communication protocols that enable vehicles to “see” around corners and talk to the city itself. While the university provides elite academic instruction, access to the National Innovation Complex, and official academic credits, Edulux Summer manages the high-end logistics and travel services required for your stay in Japan.

What You’ll Learn (at Nagoya University)

  • V2X Communication Foundations: Investigating the architecture of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication, including Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I).

  • Wireless Standards & Protocols: Mastering the technical differences between DSRC (Dedicated Short-Range Communications) and C-V2X (Cellular V2X), including 5G integration for low-latency safety applications.

  • Information Security in ITS: Learning the cryptographic methods and hardware security modules (HSM) required to prevent hacking and ensure the integrity of life-critical traffic data.

  • Positioning & Localization Technologies: Exploring how high-precision GNSS, RTK, and wireless ranging are combined to achieve the centimeter-level accuracy needed for autonomous lane-keeping.

  • Network Optimization & Congestion Control: Analyzing how to manage wireless traffic in dense urban environments to ensure that safety-critical messages always reach their destination.

  • Edge Computing for Smart Cities: Understanding how local infrastructure (Roadside Units) processes data in real-time to manage traffic flow, reduce CO2 emissions, and protect vulnerable road users.

Our Travel & Experience Services

We manage the journey and the high-tech Japanese lifestyle so you can focus on the future of connected mobility:

  • Cultural & Exploration Tours: Curated excursions including a VIP tour of the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, a guided visit to Nagoya Castle, and a weekend trip to Kyoto via Shinkansen to explore the contrast between ancient tradition and modern engineering.

  • Ticketing & Flights: Full management of your round-trip airfare and international travel itinerary into Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) with premium private transfers to the campus.

  • Guaranteed Housing: Vetted boutique living arrangements or high-end university residences in Nagoya City, offering modern comfort and seamless access to the engineering labs.

  • Visa & Insurance: Professional guidance on Japanese entry requirements and comprehensive travel health coverage for the duration of the program.

  • Local Transfers: Seamless arrival pickup via private car and a pre-loaded IC Card (Manaca/Suica) for unlimited use of Nagoya’s world-class subway and the linear motor “Linimo” train.
